BUS NETWORK REDESIGN UPDATE MAY 2020

With the City’s focus on the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting financial stressors, Administration has decided to postpone the launch of the Bus Network Redesign until mid-2021. This delay means a bit of a temporary reprieve for Ward 5 residents — particularly those in neighbourhoods losing service or convenient routes — from having to worry about compounding upheaval in the fall with shifting school and work commutes. It also means another year before we will see how the on-demand service will work, but I am more comfortable knowing that there is additional time to plan a successful roll-out.

My office is always open to feedback on transit or any other municipal concerns and can be reached by phone at 780-496-8120, email at sarah.hamilton@edmonton.ca or via twitter @sjlhamilton. Please note that any phone calls will go straight to voicemail while my staff remains working from home, but we will connect with you as soon as we are able.

Ward sipiwiyiniwak is located on Treaty 6 Territory and within the Métis homelands and Métis Nation of Alberta Region 4. We acknowledge this land as the traditional territories, traditional meeting grounds, gathering places and travelling routes of many First Nations such as the Nehiyaw (Cree), Denesuliné (Dene), Nakota Sioux (Stoney), Anishinabae (Saulteaux) and Niitsitapi (Blackfoot), Métis, and Inuit peoples. It is a welcoming place for all peoples from around the world to share Edmonton as a home.
